2017 Little Bird Dinghy Regatta Results

The annual Little Bird Regatta was a huge success! We had plenty of wind, but all of our sailors handled their boats very well in the windy and wavy conditions. It was great to see a combination of Learn to Sail students from past and present years. We had a mix of Optis, Lasers, Laser 2, and even the Flying Scot out on the water. I saw a lot of improvement in everyone!
Thank you to all of the volunteers that helped make this regatta possible. We had a delicious dinner cooked by Michael Cox with the help of Bev and Steve. Our on water crew included Lawrence and Doug as Mark Set and Safety, Jeff, Jackie and Kevin as RC, and Erin and Dieter as safety as well as regatta organization.
There was some tough competition on the water! We had a total of 15 participants. Congratulations to the following medalists:
     1. Jersey Hansen-Young
     2. Noah Fulford
     3. Jaxsten Hansen-Young
     1. Jayde Hansen-Young
     2. Ben Stephenson
     3. Jori Hansen-Young
Double Handed:
     1. Peter Dyck
     2. Brian Dyck
     3. Brian Bookats and Bruce White
Ian Cox was selected as our 2017 Little Bird. Ian showed great improvement in his sailing skills and the coaches were very impressed with his eagerness to sail and ability to keep up with his experienced class.
I hope to see everyone back next year!
