Learn to Sail at the Pelican Yacht Club

We have two goals: first - learn to sail, love to sail, live to sail. We want to produce sailors who will continue to develop their love for sailing for the rest of their lives. Our second goal is to provide sailing instruction to everyone, regardless of age, skill level, or physical ability. Our programs include:

·         Nationally recognized courses created by SailCanada (the CanSail Program)

·         Private instruction tailored to each student

·         Instruction for disabled sailors and their companions

Thursday Night Racing: On Thursday evenings, the Learn to Sail staff will host a different sailing-related event. On evenings when we are granted good winds and fair weather, we will run a very informal racing clinic, followed by a short race. The goal of these evenings is to give students the opportunity to get a glimpse of the racing aspect of sailing in a fun, friendly setting.

Little Bird Regatta: Little Bird Regatta is an annual event for all dinghy sailors. The purpose of the regatta is to introduce new racers to the sport in a fun, easy-going environment. This is a teaching regatta, so coaches will be on the water during the race to give help and guidance. It is a fun day filled with racing, learning, supper, and evening fireworks show.
