The Pelican Yacht Club was formed to "encourage improved boating skills and safety, and to foster good sportsmanship by conducting sailboat races, cruises, and other boating and social activities". The membership of the Club consists of individuals and families who have an interest in furthering these objectives. Applicants for new membership may fill in and submit the Application for Membership form along with the prescribed fees. The privileges and obligations of membership come into effect upon submission of the application form and fees pending formal approval of the Board of Directors.
Social Membership
Social members have the use of all club facilities, may serve on committees and may participate in club activities.
Boating Membership
This is the largest category of membership in the Club. Boating members have the use of all club facilities, may serve on committees, may hold elected office and are eligible to rent a slip. With the approval of the Head Sailing Instructor, boating members may have the use of boats in the club fleet. One member of the "family unit" is entitled to the privileges of membership in the Canadian Yachting Association and Individual Membership in the Manitoba Sailing Association.
Manitoba Sailing Association / Canadian Yachting Association Membership
The membership policy of the Manitoba Sailing Association requires that all individuals who are active club racers or who race in any sanctioned event hold Individual Membership in the MSA. Additional members of the "family unit" of a PYC Boating Membership who intend to be active club racers can meet this requirement by submitting the required fee to the Pelican Yacht Club.
